Wakarusa Crossroads Shopping Center 4931 West 6th Street Lawrence, Kansas This upscale shopping center is a 54,000 SF facility with a 7,000 SF basement located under one wing. The structure consists of CMU walls with a structural steel framework. The exterior façade is an attractive combination of brick, stone, glass, and stucco. Large covered walkways provide added protection while walking from store to store. The dominant feature of the center is the 46-foot high triple arch masonry clock tower with a tile roof. In addition to the construction of the shell building, Mar Lan Construction completed tenant finishes in the shopping center for Countrywide Home Loans (including a recent expansion of their offices), Factory Direct Appliance, Adolph Interiors, and First American Title. The Salty Iguana Restaurant tenant finish was just recently completed. The newest tenant, Googols of Fun, fills the central area located beneath the clock tower and will house an 'edutainment' center for children.
