CITY OF LAWRENCE – NEW HAMPSHIRE PARKING GARAGE
Lawrence, Kansas

This four-level parking garage of over 175,000 square feet was built for the City of Lawrence and is located in downtown Lawrence. This precast concrete structure will accommodate parking for over 500 cars.

Before construction could begin, thirty-foot deep soldier piling was required along the back wall line of the garage to stabilize the building located within 16 feet of the 18-foot deep excavation. A major coordination effort was required to satisfy the needs of the local businesses that were affected by the closing of a city street, the closing of an alley that provided access for daily deliveries, and the relocation of a parking lot for a major downtown bank.

The garage consists of approximately 525 pieces of precast structure sitting on top of over 80 drilled piers with diameters of up to 54 inches. The exterior of the precast blends the use of sandblasted architectural concrete and Endicott thin brick slabs in Scott form liner.
